MEET THE PASTOR

      Background

Dr. Darrell C. Pond

I grew up in India and am the son of missionary parents. My folks spent 14 years in South Asia under the auspices of the Canadian Baptist Mission Board. India dramatically impacted my life. For example:

India is a Third World country with a very unfamiliar culture to the Western mind.
I attended a para-military British boarding school which was 1000 miles removed from my parents.
Beginning in grade one I was there for 10 months out of the year.
I developed a real love for missions and especially for missionary work in India.

At the age of 14 my father led me to faith in Jesus Christ. During high school I knew God was calling me into the ministry but I was unavailable. I had other plans. Following a series of events, I surrendered my life to Him and entered training for the ministry. Foreign missions is also dear to my heart. During the last few years I have been privileged to return to India on numerous occasions to carry on the work my parents left upon their death.

That's my story briefly told. Would you like to share your story with us? If so, e-mail me. One of the joys of Heaven will be the sharing of our stories with each other. As Paul told the Ephesian Christians "...that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of his grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus." (Eph.2:7)
